Jesup Police arrested Todd Eugene Caldwell (48) of Jesup. Caldwell is charged with Second Degree Sexual Abuse, a class B Felony.

Jesup Police responded to a 911 call for a domestic dispute in progress at 646 5th Street. After investigating the incident, Nathaniel James Kopel (28) of Jesup was arrested for Simple Domestic Assault. Kopel allegedly assaulted his girlfriend. Kopel was transported to Buchanan County Jail for processing.

Jesup Police arrested Patrick Amado Santiago (16) of Waterloo for Criminal Trespass and Driving While License Suspended. Santiago had parked his vehicle near the office building at the ECI Co-op’s anhydrous plant on Benson Shady Grove, then got out and started walking around the buildings as a police officer arrived. Santiago was released to his mother.

Jesup EMS & Police responded to a 911 call for an unresponsive female at an address on Prospect Street. Melissa Ann Kimball (22) of Jesup was found unresponsive after EMS personnel had arrived. The Buchanan County Medical Examiner was called to the scene and pronounced her deceased.

Jesup Police arrested Tracy Ann Bakkum (43) of Jesup for Driving While License Suspended (DWLS) for Non-Payment of Iowa Fine. Bakkum, having been recognized by an officer and known to be suspended, was stopped on South Street (westbound) near Hawkeye Road. Bakkum was driving a Black Nissan Frontier, Iowa license 575WWL. Bakkum had two withdrawals in effect on her license for non-payment of Iowa fine, dated 9/28/11. Bakkum was also cited for No Proof of Current Insurance. Shortly after her arrest, arrangements were made to have her truck moved from the roadway. Bakkum was transported to Buchanan County Jail for booking.

Jesup Police arrested Steven Michael Olson (41) of Jesup for Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree. Olson broke the driver’s window of Amy Morris’ Jeep after an argument between the two of them. Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree is damages expected to exceed $200.00 to repair, but not over $500.00 to repair.

Jesup Police responded to a vandalism in progress at 814 1st Street. Upon arrival, Officers apprehended and arrested Hunter Alan Bowman (15) of Jesup and Blake Andrew Higgins (16) of Gilbertville. Bowman and Higgins are charged with Criminal Mischief, Criminal Trespass and Interference with Official Acts for attempting to run from Police Officers. Both juveniles were booked in to the Buchanan County and Jail and released to their parents.

Jesup Police responded to Bucketz Bar for an assault that had just occurred. Upon arrival, officers discovered that Mark Krieger (25) of Jesup assaulted Dwight Fratzke. Krieger’s assault on Fratzke also caused damage to Fratzke’s motorcycle, which was in close proximity during the assault. The damages to Fratzke’s motorcycle are approximately $1,700.00. A promise to appear has been issued for Krieger, who left the scene before officers arrived. Krieger’s charge is Simple Assault, a simple misdemeanor.

Jesup Police Responded to the apartments at Main & Church Streets in reference to an unattended death. Officers identified the deceased as Vernon Chapman of Jesup. Officers remained with the deceased until the Medical Examiner arrived.

Jesup Police Arrested Dustin Lee Wilkinson (22) of Independence for Operating While Intoxicated – 1st Offense. Wilkinson was stopped in the 200 block of 6th Street for driving Left of the Center Line, as he traveled north on 6th Street. Wilkinson and his passenger Kailey Jane Riggle (21) of Dike, were both cited for having open containers in the vehicle. Wilkinson was additionally charged for Interference with Official Acts for resisting arrest, and Left of Center, a moving violation.
